AFFORDABLE MOTHERS DAY GIFT GUIDE

The first time I bought my mum presents I surprised her by putting confetti on dining table, with balloon and a top I bought her from Wallis and she cried of happiness. Since then I’ve always tried my best to get her the best presents possible. I know it can be difficult being a student and you want to give your mum so much however money can be an issue. You can always make her breakfast in bed, buy her flowers and chocolate but here are some alternative ideas.

Afternoon tea

Who doesn’t love tea?  Afternoon tea is a great gift for mother’s day as it gets you both out the house for a little treat. M&S do a fantastic deal for two where you get a range of sandwiches, tea, scones and cake all for £12 and are accessible to a wide range of places.
There are normally deals on Groupon, which offer deals for afternoon tea if you wanted to go somewhere else more specific to your town/city.

Lidl perfume – Chanel dupe

My mum and me are both obsessed with the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle perfume and are even more obsessed with the £4 dupe from Lidl. I first discovered this dupe about 5 years ago and have only been using my actual Chanel perfume for special occasions. I am planning on doing a post all about this dupe in the coming weeks so look out for that!
 Makeup

The majority of mums I know – including my own, love wearing lipstick so this would be a great present for mother’s day. Whether your mum likes wearing bold reds or subtle nudes, there are so many lipsticks from a variety of brands, which means there is one to suit all budgets.
I personally recommend Maybelline, L’Oreal and NYX if you’re on a tight budget as you can get lipsticks for under £10 and are often 3 for 2 in Boots and Superdrug stores.
If you have a slightly bigger budget, then I would recommend getting a lipstick from MAC or Urban Decay – you can get up to 15% student discount on both these brands on their websites using your unidays.

Nails date

Everyone loves being pampered and it’s even better when someone else pays. For mothers day you could take you mum with you for a mani - pedi session or just a simple manicure. Once you nails are done, you can then go out for some lunch or coffee and just spend some quality time together talking and catching up. This is particularly nice if you’re a student living away from home because it means you can actually sit and have a conversation face to face with your mum rather than just over the phone.
Bath treats – create own spa at home

Sticking to the theme of pampering, bath treats are another great and affordable present for mother’s day. We all know how stressed mums can get so what better way to relieve their stress than with the perfect bath? Lush is probably the best place to go as they have a range of bath bombs, bars, oils and facemasks. If you wanted to be extra, you could even light a few candles before hand and pour you mum a glass of wine for her bath.

Ingredients in jar

For the mums who love baking, ingredients in a jar is such a cute and thoughtful present to give. Everything you need comes in the jar so all that need to be done is to mix them together and before you know it, you have your delicious treat. As far as my understanding goes, these are available from “Not on the High-street” and can be found here, or you could even make your own.
